CARE Pet Food Bank

The CARE Pet Food Bank was started in 2011 to assist pet owners in Garfield County and nearby communities.

The Pet Food Bank will distribute dog and cat food to pet owners who are having a difficult time providing adequate food for their pets because of economic or other challenges, and will strive to provide these pet owners with information that may help them to obtain affordable medical and spay/neuter assistance.  Our goals are to prevent animals from being surrendered to local shelters because of economic reasons, to keep pets with their owners and to keep our pets healthy and well fed.

Pet food will be distributed on a first-come, fist-serve basis based on available supplies, which will likely vary.  Food will be distributed every 3 months, we will will make every effort to provide you with a quantity of food adequate for the 3 month interval.

The Pet Food Bank is entirely dependent on donations of pet food (we will also accept kitty litter) and on the financial support of the community for purchasing pet food.

Look for donation barrels at the Carbondale Coop and RJ Paddywacks.  Food and litter donations can also be made at PetCo, Aspen Wags, and directly at CARE (as well as all financial contributions).
