Adoptions & Intake Coordinator
Adoptions and Intake Coordinators work alongside a team of employees in our fun, busy office environment by providing assistance to the public, helping connect pets to their people, and maintaining records and inventory. This position will also contribute to daily care of the shelter pets and general maintenance. Weekends are required and Spanish speaking/bi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply. Part-time position with potential for more hours within other shelter departments. ($17.00 – 18.00/hr DOE).
Animal Care Technician
Looking for a fun and engaging job that makes a difference in the lives of animals and people? Colorado Animal Rescue is searching for Animal Care Technicians to fill a fun and rewarding position on our shelter team. The Animal Care Technician is the primary provider for our shelter pets’ daily needs. They ensure every dog, cat, and exotic pet receives appropriate nutrition, housing, and enrichment. They work closely with the Veterinary, Behavior, and Adoptions & Intake teams to support animal health, daily activities, and positive outcomes for every shelter pet. The Animal Care Specialists are responsible for maintaining clean animal housing and common areas of the shelter. They’re experts in creating unique, comfortable, living spaces for every resident animal. If you love shelter pets, this is the place for you! We’re seeking both full-time and part-time team members for this role. Weekends are required and Spanish speaking/bi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply. ($16.50 – 18.00/hr DOE)
Animal Care Technician II
The Animal Care Technician II is involved in all tasks associated with daily animal care. In addition, this role is trained as an Assistant Veterinary Technician. The Animal Care Tech II works directly with shelter animals, the animal care staff, the veterinary team and the public on both the Animal Care and Veterinary Care Teams. Responsibilities include cleaning, housing, nutrition in addition to performing intake exams, vaccinations, monitoring shelter pets, carrying out treatment plans, working alongside our Lead RVT and assisting our shelter Vet in weekly surgeries and exams. Weekends are required with part-time or full-time hours available.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Assist in all daily shelter animal care including housing, nutrition, medication, vaccinations, exams, procedures, and surgery assistance
- Serve as veterinary care point of contact on assigned shifts
COMPENSATION: $21- $23/hr (starting pay commensurate with market, experience, equity)
Canine Behavior Team II
C.A.R.E.’s Canine Behavior Team level II is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the shelter canine population while developing and implementing programs for enrichment and training. This position works with the canine behavior and medical employees to meet shelter goals pertaining to training, enrichment, housing, sanitation, nutrition, and veterinary care. Additional primary responsibilities include working directly with the public to place animals in new forever homes and to encourage healthy, responsible, and well supported human-animal relationships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Collaborate with C.A.R.E.’s Leadership Team and Operations Manager, to effectively engage the organization’s core values, mission, and vision in daily Dog Team supervision, assignment of canine care tasks, and implementation of enrichment and behavior plan
- Oversee and participate in daily animal care following the guidelines of the Five Freedoms, Socially Conscious Sheltering, and PACFA regulations
- Conduct Canine Behavior Team daily meetings, providing direction focused on quality of care, increased adaptability, and activity focused on decreased lengths of stay for shelter pets
- Evaluate the behavior of shelter dogs to identify and implement plans that include canine enrichment, training, and safe handling practices
- Communicate directly with dog adopters and dog owners in regard to current shelter pets or potential shelter intakes
- Provide client facing dog behavior support to keep dogs in their current homes
REQUIRED: Must love dogs! Some experience with dog training and canine behavior management OR a desire to learn and implement shelter dog behavior and enrichment techniques. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong organizational habits with high attention to detail, and an ability to utilize effective problem solving/decision making skills are important traits.
PREFERRED: 1 or more years of experience as a professional dog trainer, Dog Training Certification (ex: CPDT, IAABC, IABC)
COMPENSATION: $21- $23/hr (starting pay commensurate with market, experience, equity)
Working at C.A.R.E.:
A typical day for all employees working at the shelter may include:
- Joining in daily care, nutrition, enrichment, and placement of dogs, cats, and other shelter pets
- Maintaining a safe and clean environment
- Welcoming adopters, pet owners, and visitors through positive in-person, telephone, and email interactions
- Reviewing adoption surveys to match adopters with a pet waiting for a home
- Designing and posting social media to spotlight C.A.R.E.’s adoptable pets
- Helping reunite a lost pet with their family

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed within an office or animal kennel setting. Handle and restrain animals of various sizes, weights, and temperaments. Subject to animal bites or scratches. Work performed in high noise level areas. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes, dust, animal dander, and feces. Physical efforts require constant bending, stooping, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, and walking. Frequent lifting of animals and objects with reasonable accommodation.

Our starting hourly pay range is $16.50 – $21.00 an hour and is dependent on job description and relevant work experience. Full-time positions include paid vacation time & eligibility for health insurance. Reliable transportation and weekend scheduling is required for these positions.
