Colorado Animal Rescue is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to fill a fun and rewarding position on our team. The Volunteer Coordinator oversees the volunteer program, assists with events, and oversees humane education & group shelter visits. The Volunteer Coordinator is someone with excellent communication and people skills, who is passionate about helping animals and volunteer service. This role is crucial to our mission and has an important part in improving the lives of homeless pets and the health of our community.
Colorado Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. We manage an animal shelter and adoption facility that serves all of Garfield County and the town of Glenwood Springs. On any given day we are providing nutrition, medical care, enrichment and love to 30 – 50 homeless pets. Our team is made up of 15 hard working employees and many volunteers who each play a vital role in creating positive outcomes for homeless pets.
Purpose:
Responsible for the success and integration of Colorado Animal Rescue—s volunteer program.
Responsibilities:
Volunteer Management
- Assess volunteer needs
- Recruit & Train new volunteers
- Schedule volunteers
- Coordinate & Schedule community service volunteers
- Coordinate group visits
- Provide ongoing training & development
- Recognize & Celebrate all volunteers
- Track & Report volunteer activity
Event Assistant
- Collaborate with Events & Development Director for event success
- Assist with Event Marketing & Outreach
- Assist with Event Set-up and Breakdown
- Schedule Event Volunteers
- Oversee Event Volunteers
Humane Education & Shelter Visits
- Coordinate Educational & Group Volunteer Tours/Visits/Projects
- Coordinate Education Outreach Program for students & community groups
Customer Service
- Role Model & Coach positive customer care based on C.A.R.E.—s Core Values
C.A.R.E. TEAM MEMBERS WORK TOGETHER TO:
- Serve the needs of animals in our care
- Place shelter animals into new loving homes
- Engage with pet owners, adopters, and supporters to meet their needs

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
Performs work primarily in an office setting. Potentially prolonged periods of sitting and repetitive motion. May work in an area with a high noise level. Potentially subject to animal bites and scratches. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes, dust, animal dander, and feces. Occasional lifting with reasonable accommodation.
Scheduling
This position is scheduled for 20 hours per week with the possibility of full-time scheduling (36 or more hours per week) with the addition of subsequent tasks and secondary responsibilities
Available Benefits
- Medical & vision (full-time only): employee only, %80/%20 premium split

Starting Compensation
$19 – $23/hr (commensurate with market, experience, and equity)

Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred
- Experience in serving as a volunteer
- Experience working as a leader
- Knowledge of non-profit organizations or animal welfare
