2025 Impact Report

In 2025, Colorado Animal Rescue (C.A.R.E.) celebrated 25 years of connecting pets to their people. What began as a shelter has grown into a vital community resource—supporting animals, strengthening families, and ensuring pets can thrive in loving homes.

A Year Worth Celebrating

As we reflect on 2025, our hearts are full of gratitude. This year marked a milestone—25 years of service to pets and people in Garfield County. Together, we didn’t just respond to need; we strengthened the systems that help pets stay healthy, supported, and at home.

From lifesaving medical care and adoptions to community programs that keep families together, every success in this report is powered by compassion, collaboration, and an unwavering belief that every animal deserves a loving home.

2025 By the Numbers

  • 924 pets received care, shelter, and second chances (8.3% more pets than in 2024!)
  • 621 adoptions created lifelong connections
  • 11,553 pounds of dry pet food distributed to community pets
  • 311 spay/neuter surgeries performed to support a healthy pet population
  • 122 new volunteers giving their time and hearts

Beyond the Shelter Walls

C.A.R.E.’s impact extends far beyond our shelter doors. In 2025, our community programs helped reduce barriers to care, prevent surrender, and ensure pets could remain home with their loved ones.

  • Pet Food Pantry & community distribution events
  • Spay/neuter support
  • Humane education & youth engagement
  • Post-adoption behavior and training support
  • Advocacy and resource navigation for pet caregivers

Impact in Action

Little Man came to C.A.R.E. during an incredibly difficult moment, after the loss of his owner. As he adjusted to sudden change and uncertainty, it was clear he would need more than routine care—his journey required long-term medical treatment, patience, and a team committed to supporting him every step of the way.

Thanks to the generosity of individual donors, Little Man received the care he needed—without relying on grant funding or restricted program dollars. Today, he’s thriving in a loving home with a couple from our community, a powerful reminder of how compassion and support can carry both pets and people forward during life’s hardest moments.

Our Values in Action

Compassion. Community. Collaboration. Education. Gratitude. Home.

These values guide every decision we make, from how we care for animals to how we partner with our community to create lasting change.

Gratitude & Looking Ahead

Because of you—our donors, adopters, volunteers, partners, and advocates—C.A.R.E. is prepared to meet the growing needs of pets and people in 2026 and beyond.

Together, we are building a brighter future for pets and people in our community!
