The BEST Dog Day 5K Yet!
On Saturday, August 15, nearly 90 runners and walkers (and a whole lot of four-legged teammates!) joined us at Two Rivers Park for the 2026 Dog Day 5K!
From Great Danes and Dobermans to Pitties, Cattle Dogs, Goldens, Labs, Doodles, Chihuahuas and plenty of perfectly mixed breeds, this year’s starting line was packed with dogs of every shape and size. More importantly, it was packed with people who showed up to support the pets and programs of Colorado Animal Rescue (C.A.R.E.).
A Record-Breaking Year for Shelter Pets
This year’s Dog Day 5K was our biggest yet, with record attendance, revenue, and sponsor support!
Together, our racers, sponsors, donors, and community helped generate $10,786 in event income, with $8,711 directly benefiting C.A.R.E. after expenses—more than $3,000 above our budgeted goal and $3,636 more than last year’s event.
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who registered, purchased raffle tickets, made a donation, created or supported a fundraising team, volunteered, sponsored the event or simply came out to cheer on our racers. Every dollar raised helps C.A.R.E. continue providing shelter, veterinary care, adoption services and community programs for pets and the people who love them.
Thank You to Our Sponsors
The Dog Day 5K wouldn’t be possible without the local businesses and organizations that step up to support C.A.R.E. and our community.
A huge thank you to our Presenting Sponsors, Alpine Bank and Holy Cross Energy, for helping make this year’s race possible.
We’re also incredibly grateful to our Event Shirt Sponsors:
- Mountain Paws Vet
- White House Pizza
- MCS Bookkeeping & Payroll
And a special thank you to Annie’s Bakery, Gearhead Outfitters, REI, Ripple Effect, and White House Pizza for donating food, raffle prizes, and other goodies that made race day even more fun for our participants.
Your support helped us create a memorable morning while raising critical funds for local pets. We couldn’t do it without you!
A Little Friendly Competition…
Of course, it wouldn’t be a 5K without seeing who crossed the finish line fastest!
Whether you raced for a PR, walked alongside your pup, tackled the course with friends, or just enjoyed a beautiful morning outside for a good cause, we’re so glad you joined us.
